Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress who is best well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. The couple had separated and she moved with her mom into Los Angeles. The year 2001 was a difficult one for her, but despite financial struggles she managed to secure her first big performance in the video online series Rachel's Room playing the principal character. In the following year, she was awarded an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as fifteen-year-old victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder which aired in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford's character in Lost from 2004 to 2005 was nominated for an Screen Actors Guild Award. The show ended in 2005 and Grace wanted to appear as a film actress, and had starred opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. The following year, she starred in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club as well as, alongside the Liam Neeson character Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) were her reprises of characters. Grace returned to her role as Shannon in Lost, including the finale. She also was a guest in the sixth series of Californication. She plays Faith a groupie and a muse to the stars, who catches the eye of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. Being part of the Gyllenhaal family, she's the daughter and older sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her acting career started as an early teenager, when she appeared in small roles in several films by her father. In addition, she was a part of her brother in 2001's cult movie Donnie Darko. The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind which was released in 2002 as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal has received critical praise for her performances as the lead in Secretary (2002, erotic romantic drama), and Sherrybaby (606) and Sherrybaby (606) of which garnered their Golden Globe Award nods. In the wake of several successful commercial films like World Trade Center in 2006 she gained greater recognition when she played Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). Following her acclaimed performance as a mother who is not married in Crazy Heart (2009), she earned the Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. The following year, she starred in comedy and dramas Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Won't Back Down (2012). Her other roles includes Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 an action thriller), actors in Frank (2014 Drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) as well as the role of the kindergarten teacher. The debut of Gyllenhaal as a writer and director was in 2021 with The Lost Daughter, a psychological drama for which she received an award at the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. She also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
